Visiting Loch an Eilein in the Rothiemurchus Forest of the Scottish Highlands
This week I visited beautiful Loch an Eilein in the lovely Rothiemurchus Forest, near Aviemore, in the Scottish Highlands.
Here’s a link to the film I made of my visit on my YouTube channel, which I hope you really enjoy - https://youtu.be/SChmTZkn5Qc?si=rDyuJSWy3a0HnFJX
The Rothiemurchus estate is about a 2.5 hour drive from Edinburgh and is, undoubtedly, one of my favourite places in Scotland.
It’s conveniently located close to Aviemore and there’s plenty of hotels, restaurants, shops and other great facilities in Aviemore for anyone wanting to visit. Rothiemurchus Estate is located in the Cairngorms National Park which is a wonderful wilderness, popular with walkers, hikers, cyclists and anyone wanting to immerse themselves in nature.
Loch an Eilein (‘loch of the island) is a short drive from Aviemore and there’s excellent visitor facilities including a car park (close to the loch which there’s a small fee for), a farm shop and indoor cafe (‘The Barn’) which is located on the B970, at the Rothiemurchus Centre PH22 1QH.
The circular walk around the loch is just delightful and takes you on a magical trail of around 3 miles. Look out for Red Squirrels, Deer, Osprey and beautiful dragonflies & damselflies which are wonderful to see.
I really hope you enjoy the film and I’ll be back soon with some films of lovely Glen Affric, which I hope to have edited & published on my YouTube channel very soon.
Thanks for watching. It's just me doing the filming, so a like and a subscription really helps me out to keep filming. If you'd like to hire me as your guide, or for filming, you can contact me through my website -
