  • A Special Afternoon of Beauty & Light Amidst Hidden Treasures

The tranquility and natural beauty of Dean Village is a welcome contrast to the hectic street life and bagpipes of High Street.

David is a gracious and thoughtful guide who brought us to the hidden gems within this peaceful area. He regaled us with stories while leading us through the old area, where he had childhood memories of the early days.

His eye for the telling detail and his filmmaker’s vision gave us glimpses of another way of life. As we admired the artistic memorials in a quiet cemetery, David told us the stories of these early inhabitants of the area.

A short break at the modern art museum revealed several startlingly beautiful sculptures in unexpected settings. A walk on a secluded path along the tranquil waters of Leith belied the flow of traffic nearby.

All in all we enjoyed a refreshing break from the hectic pace of travel and felt that we not only discovered hidden treasures but also made a new friend in our kind guide.

He even helped us buy the tram tickets at the end of our route and waited until we were safely aboard.

    Treasured memories.

  • A Great Way To Explore The Dean Village

We found David’s private walking photography tour of The Dean Village to be a superb experience!

He is an excellent tour guide. He is personable, very knowledgeable about the area, and passionate about the history of Edinburgh and Dean Village. While he accommodates mobile phone photographers, we had our cameras at the ready. David was very helpful in pointing out photo opportunities, suggested compositions, and tips on camera settings.

In addition to his photography knowledge, David has a wealth of stories about the history of Edinburgh and Dean Village which made the tour a lot of fun and educational. We had a sunny fall day, and the views were magnificent. We were able to get shots of locals walking their dogs as points of interest in our photos.

Bring your walking shoes as the itinerary includes a lot of walking up and down. I highly recommend David’s photography walk of Dean Village.

  • A Gem of an Experience!

I sincerely recommend this tour with David. As a guide, he was terrifically enthusiastic, highly knowledgeable about both photography and the city, and, above all, genuinely kind.

He did not just give pointers on how to better work our camera phones, he took us to a million hidden gems all over the city that afforded us amazing shots, all of which we never would have discovered without him, even after scouring countless websites and guide books ourselves to learn more about the city ourselves.

His pace was brisk, which allowed us to cover a lot of ground and many sites, but he was always mindful of us when we needed a pause to take a picture, and he was always conscientious of my elderly father who joined us at a slower pace.

And when we had to cut our tour slightly short, David very generously gave us another hour of his time the following day, there was just that much to cover and he was just that excited to share it. He truly went above and beyond for us, and, as a seasoned traveler, I can honestly say that I have never had a lovelier tour.
